Box office stars Will Smith and Jamie Foxx have spoken on the opportunity to portray President-Elect Barack Obama on the big screen.

The “I Am Legend” star hinted at his interest to play the new president if given the chance. Will Smith said he would love to play Barack Obama in a movie, days before the 44th President will be inaugurated in Washington, DC. Calling Obama’s election historic, Smith said he was honored the President-elect had indicated that he would like the actor to play him if his life story were ever to be made into a movie. “If I am ordered by my commander in chief to star in a film about him, I will do my duty as an American,” Smith proudly explained.

Foxx has also weighed in on possibly portraying Barack in a film. “Oh, I don’t know,” Foxx said. “He’s going to do his own movie for the next four to eight years. It’s going to be incredible. Just the way he talks. He never gets excited, even when he was going back and forth with Senator McCain. He never raises his voice, he makes everything cool. That’s what changed about me. I want to be cool — I’m Barack right now.” The Academy-winning actor is currently in Washington, DC.

The opening celebration of Sunday’s presidential inauguration featured a massive line-up of musical all-stars performing a free show in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial. Those reading historical passages will be Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah, and Denzel Washington.
