The Game went on a rant about public education this morning. What kind of person tells children not to go to school? What kind of parent calls his kids “Animals”? If this is a marketing attempt, then it is really sad that you chose children over your own self-interest.

Dr King obviously values education so don’t use that as an example. He earned a doctoral degree from Boston University. If you can’t see the value in education, then you obviously didn’t learn anything in school. Read a book.

I think Game was coming from a good place. I don’t think he meant any harm. Without question, the public school system is a mess and needs some major upgrades. And if more people within Hip Hop would focus some energy on ensuring that kids place value on education, a portion of the problem would begin to get better. If the BS on the radio said ‘go to school everyday and do the best you can’ what do we think would happen? When do we become brave enough to find out?

Oh, and reading a book never hurt anybody! Education is king, kids…
